Daniel

Daniel 2  The "great image" prophetic outline of Daniel 2 refers to the rise and fall of the empires of Babylon (head of gold), —Medo-Persia (chest of silver), —Greece (torso of bronze), and —Rome (legs of iron). The Roman Empire falls and is divided into —the many countries of Europe (feet and toes of iron and clay) and the stone which strikes the toes of iron and clay (modern Europe) represents —the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Daniel 7  The prophetic outline of Daniel 7 refers again to the rise and fall of the empires of — Babylon (the lion), —Medo-Persia (the bear), —Greece (the leopard), —Rome (the dreadful composit Beast), the nations of Europe (the ten horns), the Papacy (the little horn which persecutes the saints for the Christian era, symbolically called the "1260 days").  Then finally the saints inherit the everlasting kingdom (the second coming of Jesus).

Daniel 8  The prophetic outline of Daniel 8 is given to us after the Empire of Bablyon has fallen and so its outline refers to Medo-Persia (the two horned ram), —Greece (the goat), —Rome (the four kingdoms into which Greece was divided eventually became the Roman Empire), the Papacy (the little horn which grew out of the ruins of Rome and causes the true evangelical Christian religion to be cast to the ground). Papal Rome will prosper until near the end of time (the 2300 symbolic days of 8:14) when God will break the power of the papacy without the use of force or human power through the proclamation of the fully restored evangelical gospel of Jesus Christ by the evangelical Protestant Reformation.

Daniel 9  The prophecy of Daniel 9
refers to the time of the Messiah's coming to the earth to die for the sins of the world. The 490 years of the prophecy extend from 457 BC to AD 34. The Lord Jesus Christ was sacrificed for the sins of the world in the middle of the last 7 years of the 490 years (approximately AD 31). The leaders of the nation of Israel — having completely rejected their Messiah by uniting with Rome in crucifying their Messiah — then stoned Steven to death in appoximately AD 34.  By AD 70 national Israel ceased to exist after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman armies of Titus. Rome (pagan and papal) placed the "abomination of desolation" until she meets her end at the second coming of Christ.

Daniel 10-11 The prophetic outline of Daniel 10 and 11 depicts the struggle of the "king of the north" with the forces of the "king of the south" to attain to world dominance. This means that the "man of sin" (the paganized Christianity of the Papacy) will completely dominate all the world's religions through the Ecumenical Movement and then make final spiritual war with the "Promised Land" (the true remnant evangelical Christian church) and seek to completely "set his tent in the midst" (the Ecumenical Movement) of the evangelical Christian church but will be destroyed with no one to help him (the seven last plagues and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ).

Daniel 12   Daniel chapter 12 gives us the assurance that eventhough at the end of the world there shall be a time of terrible trouble such as there never has been, "Michael" shall arise to defend His people and deliver them at the second coming of Christ. We see the promise of the final resurrection of the saints who died in faith but also we see that the wicked shall also arise to shame and everlasting contempt.

We are told that Daniel's prophecy is "sealed up" until "the time of the end". It was God through the angel Gabriel who gave these visions to Daniel and so it was only fitting that when God finally unsealed the hidden meaning of the visions it was through the announcement again by the angel Gabriel in Luke 1: 26-32

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Daniel's prophecy ends with the precious promise to all who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that with Daniel they shall rest and finally stand in their lot at the end of the days. Even so, come Lord Jesus.
